The 3 Best Compact Digital Cameras

June 18, 2013

Fuji and Canon have taken the lead for the best compact digital cameras in 2013. Fuji has done better than Canon, taking 2 out of the top 3 positions. The 3 digital cameras, the Fuji X100S, the Fuji X20 and the Canon Powershot G1X are all excellent, all created using the most cutting edge camera technology available today. Let’s take a quick look at each of them to see what qualified it to be among the top 3 cameras of the year.

Number 3: Canon Powershot G1 X

This camera is superior because it has such a large sensor. A large sensor means that it can pick up an amazing level of detail and give very clear shots even at large distances. It is true that it has a limited zoom range when it is compared to others in the G series, but the quality of imaging that you get with this one is better than with anything you would find in the G series.

It also comes with a Digic 5 processor for faster operation, better noise sensitivity and cancellation and better video recording.

It retails for about $700.

Number 2: Fuji X20

It was the favorite high-end camera in 2012, and Fuji says that they have made 50 improvements to what is in the market now. According to their website, these include “2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor with 12 million effective pixels and a 6 x 6 RGGB filter array pattern, which combines with an EXR Processor II. The Fuji X20 also boasts a hybrid AF system and a Digital Trans Panel in the viewfinder.

It retails for about $600.

Number 1: Fuji X100S

The best compact digital camera for 2013 is the Fuji X 100S. This camera has come a long way just working with feedback. Fuji decided to take all the feedback that they were getting from users to make this camera even better than its predecessor, the FinePix X100. In addition to a hybrid viewfinder, it has a 16.3 megapixel resolution, and the same APS format sensor as the Finepix X100. It has a great design as well – the control buttons are very conveniently and it has a sleek, likeable look.

These are the 3 top cameras, but by no means should you limit yourself to these. There are plenty of other compact digital cameras in the market that are excellent for both amateur and professional use and that come in cheaper than these 3 listed here.

2 Easy Ways to Hide Your Identity Online

May 28, 2013

Remaining anonymous when you are online is becoming more and more important. There are all kinds of ways to lose information, and if you handle any that is sensitive, you could find it in the wrong hands. Sometimes you want to stay anonymous because you have a right to your privacy – no one has the right to know what you are doing when you are online. There are several ways that you can hide your identity, but this article will look at 2 of the best.

1. Using a Proxy Server

A proxy server is basically a computer that is between you and other computers on the internet. This is how it works. When you send a request from your computer, it goes straight to the source of the information and brings you back the results of your query. It leaves an information trail from your computer so anyone who cares to look can tell that it was your computer that made the request and what the request was.

A proxy server is placed between you and your computer and when you send a request, the server receives it first and then passes it on to the computer that has the information that you are looking for.

The information is once again handled by the server before it is passed on to you, so if someone were to check, the results were received by the server and there is no record of you ever having made such a request.

You can see where the anonymity comes in: you are the one who initiates the search but the proxy server puts its face on the request and the search results. In other words, no one can detect what you do online.

There are many proxy server services available online but some of the have so many clients that they become slow. If you are looking to get a good service, look for the smaller and faster ones and ask them if they keep a log of requests that they process. If they do, you may want to keep looking for one that does not.

2. Virtual Private Network or VPN

These are more common in small businesses that have multiple sites and where employees need to share information. It connects all the computers in local area networks which are then linked through the internet through secure channels. The secure channels are established using leased lines, but this does have a downside – it can be very expensive to connect many LANs that are geographically very far apart.

The people within the LAN can communicate and they can also communicate with the internet, but requests for data and incoming data are secure because any information that can be used to trace them is removed by the VPN.

Depending on how much anonymity you need and how much you can afford to pay, these two solutions are excellent for internet security.
